As with other centrally situated neighbourhoods, living here means being close to everything you may need, getting to enjoy the events, and living within walking distance of restaurants, bars, clubs, museums, theatres, boutiques and other businesses. Although it can become loud at times, the crowd and central position also make Downtown Vancouver one of the safest places to live in.
Although the central area of Downtown Vancouver is predominantly commercial and doesn’t have many single-family homes, there are a few neighbourhoods that are part of it where you can find thriving residential communities. Yaletown, Coal Harbour, Granville Mall Entertainment District, Downtown South, Gastown, Chinatown and Japantown are all parts of Downtown Vancouver and areas where you can find single-family homes for sale at various prices.
Most properties in the Downtown area are newer compared to the rest of Vancouver. More than 80% of the dwellings are high-rise buildings built after 1991. As it’s considered one of the best places to live in Vancouver, buying a single-family home in Downtown Vancouver is not cheap. Properties can start at $1 million for one-bedroom homes and go even higher the closer you get to the central area.
