Japantown Detached Single Family Homes For Sale

Japantown, or also known as Little Tokyo or Paueru-gai, is an old Vancouver neighbourhood situated east of Gastown and north of Chinatown. It used to have a large number of Japanese immigrants, but during World War II, the properties of Japanese residents were confiscated, and they were sent to internment and prisoner of war camps, which drastically decreased the population. Because of the events during WWII, Japantown in Vancouver is one of the few Japanese communities that have remained in Canada.

Filled with peaceful gardens, blossoming cherry trees, and recognizable Asian elements, Japantown perfectly mixes the Japanese culture with Vancouver’s lifestyle. There are shops, restaurants, and events where you can enjoy the spirit of Japan and feel like you’re in a completely different world the minute you enter. An upscale part of ethnic Japanese retailers called Little Ginza has gained momentum over the past few decades. Little Ginza is home to high-end restaurants dance clubs, karaoke bars, shops, and upscale boutiques that attract tourists and represent the Japanese culture in the heart of Vancouver.

The area has the recognizable architecture of Japan, but because of the proximity to multiple urban areas, most single-family homes have taken over the modern architecture characteristic of Vancouver. Most properties 3+ bedroom homes, with prices varying anywhere between $1.5 and $3 million for a 3-bedroom home depending on the exact location and state of the property.
